"For the budding DJ and producer, most of your interaction with a track is done through a computer or MIDI keyboard. Sure you can jack out in the studio and vibe with your latest banger, but if you want to use your body as an instrument, you pretty much have to engineer something custom like Imogen Heap’s Ableton Gloves.
Now a new wearable armband is trying to change the way we interact with and create music, and it’s called the Myo Armband.
According to the creators the armband “Reads the electrical activity of your muscles and the motion of your arm to let you wirelessly control digital technology. Now, for the first time ever, Myo users can control their favorite music software and analog synthesizers using custom gestures and motion with Leviathan, a MIDI/OSC music controller for Myo and Mac OS X. From the festival stage to the home studio, DJs, bands, and producers now have the power to perform chords, basslines, and entire songs with a simple flick of the wrist – a true evolution in music performance.”
